Political Cartoons: Read the directions & expectations carefully!!!
A. YOUR RESPONSE SHOULD BE IN PARAGRAPH FORM & COMPLETE SENTENCES!! You
should have 1-2 paragraphs per political cartoon analysis. Your responses should be
written neatly and legibly on a separate piece of paper.
B. Your first paragraph should discuss what you observe about the cartoon (Objects, people,
captions, etc), next interpret the cartoon what is the message it is sending, and lastly, evaluate
the cartoon (is it negative, positive, by connecting it to events and the time period).
C. Another paragraph should be dedicated to the analysis of perspective or point of view of the
document. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN??Well it means you should explain if the cartoon is ProImperialism or Anti- Imperialism. Also explains what about the cartoon or title allows you to
make this conclusion.
** Pages numbers align with the section in your textbook if you need some background
