hereinAmericasincethe1400s,evenbeforetheChristopherColumbus.Intheyear1893,A
Germanimmigrantstartedsellingthematdifferentstandsalsocalledvendors.Asitturnsout,
thatthisdoghasimpactedAmericancuisinebyanumerousofthingsandareas.Onespecific
areathatitimpactedwasNewYorkCity,referencingthatthatswheretheimmigrantsarrived
beforetheymadetheirmovestoplacestheywantedtogo,forexamplemostLithuanianscame
throughNewYorkandsettledinChicagowheretheystillresidetoday.Thecartwascalled
NYCsBowery,butwaslaterchangedin1871,byCharlesFeltman.CharlesFeltmanchanged
thenametotheConeyIslandhotdogstand,whichsold3,685dogsayear.Thesedogshelpedthe
moneymakingeconomicallybackthenforpoorimmigrantswhothoughtthatAmericawasa
wayofsuccess,alsoforwealthyfoodcompaniesexpandinghotdogstandsaroundtheworld
backthen,andaneffectonthewayweusehotdogstandsintodayssociety.

OneoftheaspectsofGermanthatsdifferentfromAmericancultureisreligion.Germans
wereChristians,eitherRomanCatholic,orProtestant.Duringthistimeperiod,Christian
churchesdecreasedinGermany,theywereweakenedduetoWorldWarI.Afterwards,theNazi
totalitarianismmadeGermanchurchestakepositiononHitler.MostoftheProtestantchurches
werewillingtosupporttheNazimovement,someothersdisagree.Theoneswhoagreedto
supporttheNazimovement,wereconvincedbythestatementpositivechristianityofthe

1920sNaziPartyPlatform,theybelievedasanaffirmationofChristianvalues.Therewasa
smallroominGermanlifeforwhatwastraditionalChristianity.Butontheotherhand,
Americansdidntchangeasmuchwithinreligion.Butasyearspassed,newreligioninterest
camealong.SomeofthereligiousmostAmericansbelievedwereCatholic,orProtestant
Christianity.Americanstookindifferentkindofspiritualitiesandpractices,aswellasnew
leadersanddevotees.ButtherewasalsoEthnicreligiouscommunities.Suchascelebratingthe
rootsofAfricanAmerican,MexicanAmerican,NativeAmerican,JewsandAsianAmerican.

WeimarculturewastheflourishingoftheartsandsciencesthathappenedinGermanyduringthe

Weimarcultureinfluenceddifferentpiecesofart,designs,scienceaswellasmusicinAmerica.
TheweimarcultureintroducedJazzintotheircultureinthe1920s.Theyinventedjazzdances
liketheShimmy,andtheTwostep.Americalaterintheseyeardiscoveredjazzandcameup
withdances.Forexample,theLadyhoop,TheCharleston,andtheBlackbottom.Duringthis
timeperiod,WW1wasjustending.Famouspiecesofartwentonthemarket,forexample,the
famousOttoDixspiece,
