Matter!

By: Kate Donahue

What is
matter?

Matter is a solid, liquid or

gas that has weight or
takes up space in the
world. Everything in the
whole entire world is
matter because everything
takes up space.

Examples of matter
Desks, chairs, pens, pencils, paper, a computer, a shoe and everything
else in the universe because everything is made up of matter.

What is
matter made
up of?

Matter is made up of
atoms, protons, electrons,
and neutrons.

States of matter- Solid, Liquid and gas

There are 3 states of matter- Solid, liquid and gas. Solid, liquid and gas are all made up of
atoms. Solids have atoms that are packed tightly together and can only move the tiniest bit.
Liquids have atoms that are tight but can move around. And gas atoms are not close
together, and move around a lot.

What is a chemical change?

A chemical change is an object that is changed into another form and
you can not bring it back. For example, if I put a regular piece of paper
in a fire, it turns to ashes. Once I turned the paper to ashes, I cant turn
it back to paper because it has been burned and turned into another
form.

I take a
regular piece
of paper

Then I put it in
the fire

It turns to ashes and

you cant turn it back
to regular paper

What is physical change?

Physical change is when you change something but it can come back.
For example, if you cut your hair, it will grow back. That would be a
physical change. Another example is when you have a ice cube and
then it melts into water. you can put that water back into the freezer
and
turn it back to an ice cube.
Finally, you put the

into the freezer and
