House Style

As the soap opera I will be making is for BBC Three, it is important that I
incorporate the house style from authentic BBC Three posters in order to
have consistency and ensure that the poster looks genuine and fits with
the channel of choice.
This is a poster for the BBC Three soap Being
Human. Although not an advertising a soap
opera, the poster is an example of the house
style that is expected of a BBC Three poster.
I will use a hot pink colour for the title of
the soap opera as this appears to be the
point of interest that BBC Three poster
seem to intend to bring out. The hot pink
is effective because its a bright colour
and is only used with one portion of text.
Therefore, the text stands out from the
rest. The hot pink colour is also present in
the channel indent and so this will make
the poster consistent.
I will use a white colour for the rest of the
text as the channel indent also uses white
and, in keeping with the need for
consistency, I will be using the colour
white for the remaining text such as the
date/time and tagline. This will separate
the title of the show with the remaining
important information, making the poster
clear to read.

The font I will be using is

Century Gothic. This is
because this is the font that is
used in the example poster
and so is conventional of the
authentic channel posters.

By following all the conventions of both a soap

opera and a BBC Three poster, the audience will
be able to recognise the genre of show being
advertised and the channel it will be
broadcasted on. By keeping the house style
consistent, the poster will look professional and
the audience will put faith in me as a producer
to provide them with a soap opera that is as
entertaining and of the high quality that they
expect of BBC Three, having watched shows
that have been broadcasted on the channel
before.
