Viewing video skills from the Mosbys videos. Learning the step by
step of proper hand washing, donning clean and sterile gloves, mask,
gown, isolation techniques, sterile techniques and specialized cleaning
of equipment. I usually use the clean technique at work and the sterile
techniques were refreshed and practiced more during my labs like
guided practice and open lab. The interaction with the other students
which tells us where we got it wrong or when we got the sterile field
contaminated that makes it a fun experience of learning.

I learned the difference of the clean and sterile techniques, donning of

clean and sterile gloves, and principles of sterile and medical asepsis
when and how to perform it. Importance of proper preparation and
techniques in making a sterile field or you might end up contaminating
the instruments and the field. It is meaningful to know the principles
of medical and surgical asepsis to promote healing of the client and
prevent contamination. Lastly the importance of always hand washing
to prevent cross contamination when providing care to clients and for
us healthcare providers.

Excellent. This is an essential day to day skill that I use in my

workplace. Mostly Medical asepsis is used but Ive done sterile
techniques in the past and made this curriculum very refreshing for
me. Lots of reading for the principles / rationales every step and
watching videos for the skill to learn in performing hand washing,
performing sterile techniques, donning clean and sterile gloves. I also
practiced lots during our open laboratory and guided practice.

I will incorporate all that I have learned in in my daily routine at work

with my clients. Promoting healing and safety is always a priority. The
medical and surgical techniques will always be used as per procedure
and as long as clients will benefit from proper technique that is used
and prevents them from contamination or further contamination.
