Final KG = Final Moment / Final Displacement

A ship of 6000 tons displacement has KG=6m,

and KM=7.33m. The following cargo is
loaded:
1000 tons, KG=2.5m
500 tons, KG=3.5m
750 tons, KG=9.0m
The following is then discharged
450 tons, KG=0.6m
800 tons, KG=3.0m
Find the final GM

Virtual loss of GM(GG3) = i/v x d1/d2 x 1/n

I: Second moment of free surface about the

centerline = LB/12
V: The ships volume of displacement
d1: Density of liquid in the tank
d2: Density of water in which the ship is floating
n: number of longtitudinal bulkheads the tank is
subdivided.

A RORO ships garage was flooded with sea

water. Ships displacement was 15000 tons.
Garage length was 80 meters, breadth 18
meters. Calculate the virtual loss of GM.

GGv = LB/12V
GGv = 80 x 18 / 12 x (15000/1.025)
GGv = 466560 / 175609 = 2.65 meters
Average RORO GM = 2.9 meters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
