To whom it may concern,
My senior project will be of volunteering for the Honor Flight Program for WW2
veterans. This program is intended to recreate what praise that the vets shouldve had when
returning home after the great war. This includes: A grand breakfast, a trip to the WW2 memorial
in Washington D.C, a welcome home celebration parade on the return flight home. My specific
duties will be of preparing the grand breakfast before the flight trip, in which I will not be taking
part in said flight. Also, I will be apart of the flag line which is made when the veterans make
their way off of the airplane. The next intended flight will be October 30th, but due to
scheduling, I will not be able to help. The next flight, possibly in January, I will be helping most
of the day with the preparation of the grand breakfast, and also help set up the parade area.
The Honor Flight Program of Southern Indiana is one of many new forming
branches of the Indianapolis Hub Honor Flight. The Honor Flight is a non- profit
organization created solely to honor Americas veterans for all their sacrifices. They
transfer the heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. This
program is a great asset in which they provide an amazing opportunity to fill the void of
thanks that WW2 veterans never got when they returned from the line of duty decades
ago.
Due to a slow process in volunteer applications, I have yet to be informed of
whom I will be mentored by.
I hope, by the end of this project, that I have given the thanks and gratitude that
WW2 veterans deserve. It gives me great pride to be able to help give such a wonderful
experience to the true heroes of this country. After this project, I hope to have learned and
recognized, just how important these men are to America.
Sincerely,
Austin Resing
