Present Simple
We use the present simple for things
that are generally true or that habitually
happen.

+ Positive Form
I work.
You work.
He/She/It works.
We work.
You work.
They work.

Spelling rules for He/She/It


I run / play / live
He runs / plays / lives
I watch / finish / go / do
She watches / finishes / goes / does
I study
He studies

I have -> He has


I say -> He says

- Negative Form
Contractions: don't = do not / doesn't = does not
I don't work.
You don't work.
He/She/It doesn't work.
We don't work.
You don't work.
They don't work.

To make negatives use don't/doesn't + verb (infinitive)


Ex: He doesn't work. (He doesn't works)

Use do (or does with he/she/it) to make questions.


Do and does can be:

? Question Form
Do I work?
Do your work?
Does He/She/It work?
Do we work?
Do you work?
Do they work?

- Auxiliary verb to make present simple questions.


Do you speak English? Does he live here?
- Normal verb.
I do my homework. She does exercice every day.
The word order for present simple questions:
Auxiliary verb
(do, does)

Subject
(I, you, he...)

Infinitive
(work, live, run...)

Answers: Yes/No + Subject + do(don't)/does(doesn't)


Examples:
British people like animals.
They live in houses with gardens.
My sister doesn't work in the mornings.
Ann has three children.

We don't study in the evenings.


Do you work? Yes, I do.
Does she sing? Yes, she does.
Does he run? No, he doesn't.
