medicationsandusingmorecomplexmedicalequipment.ParamedicsarefirsttrainedasEMTs
beforeundergoingmoreadvancedmedicalskillstraining,whichcantakeuptotwoadditional
yearsofstudy.Thoughexactrequirementstoworkvarybystate,allstatesrequirebothEMTs
andparamedicstobelicensed(HowMuch2015).AccordingtotheU.S.BureauofLabor
Statistics,orBLS,allparamedicsandEMTsmadeanaverageannualwageof$34,030,or$16.36
perhour.Themiddle50percentofthisgroupearnedbetween$24,420and$40,440,or$11.74
