    This study developed and tested the NOPPAIN assessment tool, which allows nursing assistants to assess pain levels in patients with dementia. The tool uses six categories such as facial expressions, guarding, vocal complaints, and physiological signs to evaluate pain. Nursing assistants were trained on the tool and achieved high reliability when using it to rate patients. The NOPPAIN shows potential as a standardized method for non-physician staff to evaluate pain in non-communicative dementia patients.
