Graduatestanding.
PurposeofthisCourse:
Toinvolvethedevelopingprofessionalintheprocessofselecting,evaluating,andutilizingeducational
computersoftware:Studentsareaskedtoparticipateinindividualandgroupactivitiesdemonstrating
collaborativelearningandproblemsolvingissues.Thiscoursefocusesontwoaspectsoftechnologyin
education:1)pedagogy,i.e.,theoryandtechnologyrelatedissuesand2)technologyproficiencyi.e.,hardware
andsoftwareknowledge,disposition,andskills.
Notewell:youmusthaveinternetaccessandanactiveemailaccounttoparticipateinthiscourse.
CourseObjectives:
Knowledge
Thestudentwill
K1.Demonstrateknowledgeofthedesign
andcontentcharacteristicsthatmakeforqualitytechnology
softwareandonline(WWW)applications
K2.Demonstrateknowledgeoftoolsoftwarebyperformance.
K3.Demonstrateknowledgeofintegratingcomputertechnologyintothecurriculumandinstruction.
Studentswilldesignanexhibitofthisunitthatwillbesubjecttobothpeerandauthorityreview.
K4.Understandandarticulateissuesrelatedtoselecting,installing,updatingandmaintainingeducational
networks.
K 5. Identify appropriateinstructionalstrategiesandcreativeusesforcomputerbasedresources.Includedare,
the use of Internet and WWW online search tools and intelligent agents to identify and index desired
informationresources
K6.Identifyappropriateinstructionalstrategiesandcreativeusesofcomputerbasedresources.K7.Identify
organizationsandgroupsrelativetotheuseofcomputersandtechnologyfor
enhancingeducation.Includedinthisknowledgebaseareorganizationsandagencies
specializingindealingwiththeadaptiveneedsofallindividuals.
K 8. Understand technology resource commitments by comparison of learning time, project resource
requirements, and materials commitment among individual work, group work, and commercial
purchases.

P1.Identifyandapplycriteriaappropriateforevaluatingresourcesandaccompanyingequipment
inallformatsandatallgradelevels.
P2.Evaluatebothinternalandexternalinformationaccesspoints,andtheneedsofthestudentsandfacultyto
coordinatetheselectionofappropriateresourcestomeettheeducationalgoalsandobjectivesoftheschool.
P3.Recognizethecharacteristicsuniquetoeachinformationformatandselectitemsaccordingtotheir
specificcontributiontolearningobjectivesorpersonal,developmentalneeds.
P4.Applycriteriatodeterminetheappropriatenessofproducinglocalresourcesasopposedtoselecting
commerciallyproducedresources.
P5.Design,evaluate,andmodifycomputerbasedteachingandlearningactivities,andevaluatestudent
masteryoftheseactivities.
P 6. Monitor, assess, and employ existing and emerging technologies for possible applications to the
instructional program. These will include technology for able bodied and individuals needing special
considerationforphysicalormentallimitations.

MetaIQonlinelibrariessuchasLibrariansIndextotheInternetandhowtofindtherightsearchengine
usingSearchEngines.com.
