habitoftalkingtoherselforbodydysmorphicdisorder,duetoherconfusiononwhich
sexsheis.

BehavioralTherapy
Behavioraltherapiesareusuallyprescribedalongwithmedicinetotreatschizophrenia.
BehavioraltherapiesusuallyhelppeoplesufferingfromSchizophrenialearnto
communicateanddevelopsocialskillstohelpthemgetalongintheworld.

CognitiveTherapy
Cognitivetherapieshelppatientssufferingfromschizophreniamakecopingdecisions,
functionindependently,andbefreefromdistress.Therapistswhoworkwith
schizophrenicpatientsusingcognitivetherapyknowthattheirpatientscannotbecured,

butseektolessenthesymptomsthatcausethepatientdistressandaninabilityto
function.

GroupTherapy
Grouptherapyforschizophrenics,insomecases,canbeveryadvantageous.Forone,it
allowsschizophrenicstoexpressthemselvesinasafeandegalitarianenvironment
surroundedbypeoplewho,quitepossibly,understandwhattheyregoingthrough.It
helpstherapeuticrelationshipstodevelopfasterand,lastly,Thegroupfunctionsby
comparingandquestioningthepsychoticidentitiesandblockingthedevelopmentof
delusionalconvictionsorbeliefsinthepasttruthsveracityofthepsychotic
experienceslived.

BiologicalTreatments
Antipsychoticsarethemostconventionalofbiologicaltreatmentsforschizophrenia.The
drugsarelonglasting,butitmaytakeafewweeksforsymptomstorelieve.Doctors
typicallyprescribeantipsychoticslessoften,astheyhavepotentialdangerousdrawbacks.
Somedoctors,forspecificcasesofschizophreniathatrelatetothedrug,prescribe
antidepressants.

ThepatientshowssignsofhavingPostTraumaticStressDisorder.Theyshowsymptoms
suchasproblemsbreathing,flashbacks,dizziness/disorientation,shaking,sweating,and
havingfrighteningthoughts.Thepatientishavingaflashbacktowhathappenedinthe
hospital,andfromthisnegativememorycomethenegativesymptomslistedabove.
PTSDisamentaldisordertriggeredbyexperiencingorviewingaterribleevent.PTSD
createsanxiety,fear,andhyperactivenegativeemotionsthatalsoculminatenegative
physicalsymptomsofpanic.

BehavioralTherapy
InPTSD,theleadingbehavioraltherapiesaretiedwithcognitivetherapy.Thetwoare
CPT(CognitiveProcessingTherapy)andPE(ProlongedExposuretherapy).CPThelps
youlearnaboutPTSD,becomeawareofyourthoughtsandfeelings,learnskillstocope
andovercomeyourPTSD,andunderstandcommontraumaticbeliefs.PE,though,has
fourparts:Education...Breathingretraining...Realworldpractice[and]Talking
throughthetrauma.

helpsyoubuildrelationshipswithotherswhounderstandwhatyou'vebeenthrough.
andYoulearntodealwithemotionssuchasshame,guilt,anger,rage,andfear.Itwill
allowyoutogetthroughyourtraumaandfocusonthepresent.

BiologicalTreatment
ThebiologicaltreatmentsusedtoquellPTSDare,butnotlimitedto,antidepressants,
anxiolytics,anticonvulsants,andmoodstabilizers.Theseshouldbetakeninmoderation,
astheyaresecondtotherapyinhelpfulness.

PeoplewhosufferfromGeneralizedAnxietyDisorderareconstantlyworriedandtense.
Theyhavetroublerelaxingandmayshowanumberofphysicalsymptoms,including
muscletension,trembling,twitching,inabilitytoswallow,andsweating.

BehavioralTherapy
GADdiffersconsiderablyforeachpatient,soeachtherapymustbemadesuitedforeach
patientandtheirsymptoms.Behavioraltherapiesexaminehowyoubehaveandreactin
situationsthattriggeranxiety.Thistypeoftherapywillexaminewhattypeofreactions
youhavetriggeryouranxiety.Throughbehavioraltherapyyouwilllearnrelaxation
techniquesthatwillhelpyoudealwithanxiety.

CognitiveTherapy
Cognitivetherapiesexaminehownegativethoughtscontributetoanxiety.Incognitive
therapy,youwilllearnhowtoidentifynegativethoughts,challengingyournegative
thoughts,andfinallyreplacingyournegativethoughtswithpositivethoughts.Through
cognitivetherapy,youwilllearntoconfrontyourfearsandworkthroughthemlogically.

GroupTherapy
SomepeoplewithGADreceivehelpbyjoiningasupportgrouptotalkthroughtheir
problems,however,manypeoplefeelawkwardtalkingabouttheiranxietyinfrontof

otherpeople.Soitisimportanttototalktoatherapistbeforeseekingoutasupport
group.

BiologicalTreatments
Doctorsusuallyprescribeantidepressantorantianxietymedicinetopeoplewhosuffer
fromGAD.Itisimportantnottostoptakingthesemedicationsabruptly,ifyouare
havingtroublingsideeffects,talktoyourdoctoraboutstopping.
