Standard #9: Professional Learning and Ethical Practice

The teacher engages in ongoing professional learning and uses evidence to continually
evaluate his/her practice, particularly the effects of his/her choices and actions on
others(learners, families, other professionals, and the community), and adapts practice
to meet the needs of each learner.

Course: EDUC 101: Introduction to Teaching
Brief Description:
This was an interview I conducted with a first grade teacher to learn more about
the knowledge skills and dispositions needed to be successful in the classroom. I also
was able to reflect upon how those ideals fit into my existing schema about teaching as
a profession.
Rationale:
To document my understanding of Professional Learning and Ethical Practice, I
have selected to include my Teacher Interview. By participating in an interview with an
experienced teacher, I was able to compare and contrast my own ideas of what
teaching will be like with someone`s already existing experiences. This led to a greater
understanding of the knowledge, skills, and dispositions I will need to employ in the
classroom.
