ELECTION MANIFESTO LIBRARY REPRESENTATIVE

Library Representative acts as a liaison between student community and the administration of B.C. Roy memorial
library, IIM Calcutta. Given this opportunity, I would like to represent student community, act in the interest of
students and address their needs to ensure the availability of library facilities to them. If elected as library
representative, I intend to take up the following initiatives, in addition to the roles and responsibilities, as stated by
the constitution.
IT Infrastructure:

Library portal would be revamped to make it more informative and interactive for students.

Library database would be modified by adding more filters so that it is easy to search and borrow/issue for
students.

Physical Infrastructure:

Coordinate with administration to provide more chairs and repair the existing chairs and switchboards.

Install new coffee vending machine or negotiate with NAB Nescafe to extend its timing for the refreshments
in the night.

Negotiate with administration for opening an extra floor for mitigating the rush during examination time
and project submissions.

Coordinate with administration to initiate the provision of borrowing stationery items.

Improving hygiene and water facilities inside the library, provide clean washrooms and filtered water to the
students.

Access and Awareness:

Streamlining the process of issuing library cards and ensure that every student get their cards within
minimum time-frame.

Coordinate with IT representative for improving the remote access of library portal and database for
students accessing the same in summer internship.
