    Indian Automotive Industry History

    The first motorcar was seen on the Indian roads in 1898. However, it was only forty
    four years later, in 1942, when India realized the importance of establishment of an
    indigenous automobile industry. Premier Automobiles Ltd.(PAL) and Hindustan
    Motors (HM) established industries for full fledged manufacturing of automobiles in
    the mid forties.
