1940’s

ST ANN’S
NOTTINGHAM.

Were you living there then? Do you remember Pym, Moffat and
Livingstone Streets, Bluebell Hill or Peas Hill Road? Attend the Bluebell
Hill or Pierrepoint Schools, even run riot in the threp’ny rush at the
Cavendish cinema?
Did you ever notice this,
scruffy, smelly, brown
eyed little girl with the
‘basin’ cut hair do,
solemnly watching and
listening to your every
word? If you did, then
you may well recognise
something of yourself in
this book.
We were the ‘King’
family who lived at 80
Moffat Street. My mam
used to sell tuffee apples
from our front doorstep.
You were once my
‘street’ aunt or uncle,
neighbour, shopkeeper,
teacher or school friend
and knowing you, helped
me write this book about
growing up in war torn
Nottingham during those
nostalgic years.
