    A composite was made by mixing 40g of carbon fiber with a density of 1.75 g/cm3 and 100g of HDPE matrix with a density of 0.95 g/cm3. To calculate the volume fraction of carbon fiber, the volume of each component must be determined and the carbon fiber volume divided by the total volume. The density of the composite can also be calculated from the densities and volumes of the individual components.
