Presentation

Personal Communication

The process of presentation use oral language. Presenter was speaking and audience listen. Presentation is
not only used in meeting, but in promotion too.

Touch

Let audience touch something to feel.

- In training : Let trainee operate equipment.


- In large group : Have several samples to pass around
- Seating : check first, before start. Must be balance between hard and soft.
- Think of movement as a part of touch.

Taste and Smell

Take for the senses and think about perception.

- Ventilation : Adequate (enough) to provide fresh air to the audience


- Temperature : Balanced with the atmosphere
- Air Conditioning : Set to be correct

Time

That is not the “time” as generally but about length. How duration you need to explain. Don’t make audience feel
bored. The marks are non verbal. Like face expression, play with finger, sigh, etc.
Visual Aids

Appearance and manner bring image. That is vital communicate effectively.

- Dress : Must be suit with the image of project.


- Personal Factors : Look clean and neat are reflected
- Voice : Sustain and keep right tones, volume, pace, etc
- Habits : Be regulated and don’t be over

Vertical writing Surfaces = All board which used for presentations

- Build up the details of presentations


- Summarize the key points
- Amend (fix), change, erase as you go along
- Use range (variety) of colors

Kinds:

- Chalk board
- White board
- Flip chart
- Felt – Covered boards
- Magnetic boards

Projection = need electrical power to use it.

Kinds:

- Overhead projector (OHP)


- Slide projector
- Film strip
- Slide tape
- Computer
- Video
- Close circuit television (CCTV)
- Film

Audio = Provide the sound be clearly.

Kinds:

- Microphones
- Recordings
- Multimedia
Creating a presentation

 Must be carefully prepared


 Never make an unscripted and / or rehearsed (tell) presentation
 Stressful experience

Objectives must be confirmed by the organizer.

Venue (place for meet) = Background details

- Audience : Identify, who and how many


- Purpose : Understanding of overall intention
- Knowledge and expectation

Facilities

- What is available in the room


- What resources are available
- How the audience will be seated
- Is there a clock to remind the time

Structuring the Presentation

- Clear structure
- Unfold in Sequence
- Complete story
