ORAL PRESENTATION 2nd TERM

Creating a Time Capsule

A time capsule is a sealed container holding items
that give people in the future a record of a particular
time period. It's like sending a message into the future.

In pairs, you are going to

create a time capsule and will
present it orally in front of the
rest of your classmates.
There are four tasks to be done:
1. The time capsule itself (the container and the items you will include in it).
2. The written part (an essay telling the reader about your time capsule)
3. The oral part (remember you cannot read, so rehearse at home and come to class
and speak as naturally as possible)
4. The slide presentation (it can be a PowerPoint file or any other visual support)
Aspects to include in your oral presentation:
State the purpose (who is the time capsule for?, what do you want to show?)
Show, explain and justify the choice of both the container and the items you
have put in your time capsule (there should be a minimum of twelve items).
Finally, say where you will place it and when it is supposed to be retrieved.

Language tip:

You will be describing and justifying your choice of items so you will use the
Present Simple tense.
You will also need to use the Future Simple tense when explaining where the time capsule will be
placed and when it will be retrieved.

Timing tip: Your oral presentation will last between 10 and 15 minutes. Both members will talk
equally. Prepare and rehearse at home in front of friends/classmates. Remember that at the end of
your presentation there will be five extra minutes in case the audience wants to ask any questions.

Aspects to include in your slide presentation:

Explain the process you have gone through (the steps) before starting the time
capsule.
Add a picture of each item you have included in the time capsule.
Bring your time capsule to school and show it to your classmates.
