Todd Bissell, Principal

JANUARY 2016 NEWSLETTER

Dr. Rachel Heide, Assistant Principal

Erie Middle School Tiger Community,

I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable Winter Break. With the New
Year, there will be many important and exciting events happening at EMS
Things to look forward to in the 2nd semester include; Grade level field tripseveryone has done a great job raising money to support these trips, State
Assessment testing in April, Girls Basketball, Wrestling, Track, and concerts to name
a few. Thank you for your support in these activities.
Parents, please keep us updated with information. If you have a change of
phone number, cell number, address, email, etc. Please let us know so that we may
keep our systems current.
As a reminder for the safety of our students when dropping them off in the
morning;
the south bound lane of Main Street in front of the school is too narrow
to allow for curbside unloading. For the safety of our students, please use the parent
drop off lane on the north side of the building, the south parking lot area, and the
curbs next to the church. Also a reminder that the east side loop of EMS is for buses
from 7:40 am-8:00 am and again 2:40 pm 3:15 pm. Closing this area off during
this time helps prevent accidents and injuries. Thank you for your understanding.
Please visit our school Website. Our Facebook page is updated with upcoming
and current events at EMS to keep our community informed. The website also has
links to teacher pages, activities, events, etc. This is a fantastic way to keep
informed of the happenings at Erie Middle School.
Upcoming events in January; 1/4 Students back to school/start of 2 nd
semester 1/11 PTO 7 p.m. 1/18-No School MLK Day, 1/6 Girls Basketball 1/13 Girls

From the Counseling Office

Counseling will been exploring Careers with 8th grades in January. We use
classroom instruction as well as an internet based program called College in
Colorado. All students will learn how to sign onto and use the College in Colorado
web site. College in Colorado is designed to help students and parents plan for
secondary education (Middle School and High School), post secondary education
(2yr colleges, 4yr colleges, or technical schools) including financial aide
information and career choices. Parents are encouraged to sign onto College in
Colorado to help their students through this important and difficult process.
