The Capitals face the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena on Wednesday in the second of three meetings between the

From Russia With Love Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored a goal on Nov. 7 against Toronto, tying Sergei Fedorov
(483) for first place in career goals among Russian-born NHL players. Ovechkin (772 GP) scored his 483rd career goal in
476 fewer games than Fedorov (1,248 GP). Fedorov registered 46 points (13g, 33a) in 70 games with the Capitals from
2007-09 and previously broke Alexander Mogilnys NHL record for career goals by a Russian-born player with two goals
in Washingtons 6-5 overtime win at Dallas on Oct. 25, 2008. On Oct. 20 at Calgary, Ovechkin (911) became the fourth
Russian-born player to record 900 NHL points, joining Fedorov (1,179), Mogilny (1,032) and Alex Kovalev (1,029).

Strong Start The Capitals are 11-4-1 this season, marking their third best start in franchise history. Washington posted
a 12-4-0 record through 16 games in 1991-92 and 2010-11. In addition, the Capitals rank tied for fourth in wins during the

Jacques Martin (1,294) for 10th place on the all-time NHL games coached list. In addition, Trotz earned his 613th NHL
win on Thursday at Philadelphia, tying Jacques Martin for 12th place on the all-time NHL coaching wins list. Trotz has
posted a 613-509-60-112 record in 17 seasons with Nashville and Washington.

Leave It To Beagle Jay Beagle scored a goal in the third period on Friday against Calgary, marking his second straight
game with a point (11/12-11/13: 1g, 1a). Beagle ranks tied for sixth on the team in goals this season (3) and the Capitals
are 19-0-5 all-time when Beagle scores a goal. In addition, Beagle won 7 of 10 faceoffs (70.0%) on Friday. The Calgary
native has won 130 of 218 faceoffs (59.6%) this season and ranks second in the NHL in faceoff win percentage (min. 200
faceoffs).
8 Mile Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has earned a point in 11 of his 15 games this season (8g, 8a). Ovechkin leads
the Capitals in goals (8) and plus/minus (+8), ranks second in points (16) and fourth in assists (8). Since entering the NHL
in 2005-06, Alex Ovechkin has posted 137 more goals and 49 more points than any other player. In addition, Ovechkin
leads the NHL in goals since 2001-02 despite beginning his NHL career in 2005. The Moscow native ranks first in
franchise history in goals (483), points (911), power-play goals (177), game-winning goals (81), overtime goals (15), shots

Holt-beast Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby stopped 18 of 20 shots on Thursday at Philadelphia to earn his ninth win
of the season. Holtby has posted a 9-4-0 record this season with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .919 save
percentage. The Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, native ranks tied for third in the NHL in wins and tied for sixth in goalsagainst average (min. 300 mins). Since the start of the 2012-13 season, Holtby ranks third in the NHL in shutouts (17) and
fifth in wins (96).
Here to Assist Since Nicklas Backstrom entered the League in 2007-08, he has earned an assist on 174 of Alex
Ovechkins 385 goals (45.2%). Backstrom ranks first on the Capitals franchise assist list (433) and fifth in points (584).
Since he entered the NHL in 2007-08, Backstrom ranks third in the League in assists (433), trailing Henrik Sedin (483)
and Joe Thornton (461).
Back To Back The Capitals begin their fourth back-to-back set of the season on Wednesday against the Detroit Red
Wings at Joe Louis Arena. Washington will conclude the set on Thursday against the Dallas Stars at Verizon Center. The
Capitals are 5-0-1 in back-to-back games this season, outscoring opponents 21-13. Washington will play 13 sets of backto-back games in 2015-16.
Kuz Control Evgeny Kuznetsov earned two assists on Nov. 12 at Philadelphia, marking his fourth multi-assist game of
the season and the seventh multi-assist game of his career. Kuznetsov has earned four assists in his last five games
(11/5-11/13: 4a) and ranks tied for fifth in the NHL in points per 60 minutes (3.58). In addition, Kuznetsov ranks first on the
team in assists (12) and points (17), third in plus/minus (+7) and tied for third in goals (5).
Attacking the Atlantic The Capitals have earned a point in 20 of their last 21 games against Atlantic Division foes (171-3) dating back to last season. Washington has outscored opponents 62-33 during that span.
Caps Connections Capitals assistant coach Lane Lambert was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round,
25th overall, in the 1983 NHL Draft. Lambert appeared in 176 games with the Red Wings from 1983-86, registering 65
points (36g, 29a) and 349 penalty minutes.

Shots Fired The Capitals registered 36 shots on Friday against Calgary, marking their sixth consecutive game with 30+
shots. Washington ranks tied for sixth in the NHL in shots for per game (31.1) and tied for first in shot difference (5.9).
Laich Nears No. 700 Brooks Laich is scheduled to play in his 700th NHL game on Wednesday at Detroit. Laich was
drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the sixth round, 193rd overall, in the 2001 NHL Draft. The Wawota, Saskatchewan,
native played in one game with Ottawa during the 2003-04 season before he was acquired by the Capitals with the
Senators second-round choice in the 2005 NHL Draft and future considerations in exchange for Peter Bondra on Feb. 18,
2004. Laich has earned 319 points (133g, 186a) and 287 penalty minutes in 699 career NHL games. He ranks ninth on
the Capitals franchise games played list (698).
Prospect Update Capitals prospect Vitek Vanecek was named the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 915. Vanecek, who was drafted by the Capitals in the second round, 39th overall, in the 2014 NHL Draft, appeared in both
of South Carolina's games against Orlando last weekend, posting a 1-0-1 record with a 0.92 goals-against average and a
.956 save percentage. The Havlickuv Brod, Czech Republic, native is 4-4-2 this season and has allowed two or less goals
in each of his last eight appearances. He ranks ninth in the league, and third among rookies, with a 1.99 goals-against
average and recorded his first professional shutout in a 2-0 win over Florida on November 3.
This Date In Caps History On Nov. 18, 1983, the Washington Capitals defeated the New York Islanders 7-1 at Capital
Centre in Washington, D.C. Alan Haworth lead the team with two goals and Larry Murphy, Dave Christian, Bengt
Gustafsson, Mike Gartner and Gaetan Duchense each added a goal in the win. The Capitals outshot the Islanders 45-14,
including 24 shots in the first period. Goaltender Al Jensen stopped 13 of 14 shots to preserve the victory for the Capitals.
