We are excited to once again offer a summer internship opportunity to young adults attending or entering college. The goal of the program is to provide worthwhile work experiences for college students living in the communities surrounding the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The Summer Internship Program will give college students, who live locally, an opportunity to get real work experience, exposure to the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corp. (BNYDC), become familiar with the industrial sector, and have an opportunity to earn a salary during the summer that may supplement their college costs. BNYDC will interview and hire qualified college students for opportunities with businesses on the Yard that agree to host a summer intern. Students must be able to present documentation that indicates their current enrollment in a college program or admission to a college. We are now soliciting applications. You must complete an application and a resume to be considered. There are limited internship opportunities; applications should be sent in as early as possible. THE DEADLINE FOR ALL APPLICATIONS WILL BE April 29th, 2016 All applicants will have an opportunity to be interviewed. Those selected are required to: Attend a mandatory BNYDC orientation session Commit to the entire 8-week internship assignment Commit to a 40 hour work week with a one hour unpaid lunch break each day. This totals to 35 paid hours each week. The internship period will be divided into two eight-week sessions. The first session will begin on Monday, June 6th and will end on Friday, July 29th. The second session will begin on June 27th and end on August 19th. Each student is required to choose only one (1) session in which he/she will participate in. Navy Yard businesses will provide each student with a meaningful work experience. Interns are expected to demonstrate exceptional work ethic and professionalism at all times while being employed by BNYDC. At the end of the program, employers will submit an intern evaluation. This is a wonderful opportunity for college students and businesses on the Yard, and we are looking forward to hearing from you! Applications are available online at Brooklynnavyyard.org.
