The first grade teachers are asking families to help their children develop goals for the new year by completing a brainstorming chart. The chart will help students set personal goals and help the class set a group goal, as the teachers have modeled goal-setting in their own classrooms. Families are asked to discuss ideas with their child for the sections of the chart and return it by January 11th to help students work on their goals.

Happy 2016 and Welcome Back! We hope everyone had a wonderful
break and enjoyed time with family and friends! Please see the attached New Years Brainstorming Chart. We are working on developing goals in our 1st Grade classrooms. As we continue to learn and practice the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Kids, this is a wonderful way to use Habit 2 - Begin With The End In Mind. At the beginning of the year, Martell teachers shared a personal goal with staff and students. Students watched as we tracked our progress throughout October, November and December. This was a wonderful learning experience for all of us. We will now develop a classroom goal and students will each work on personal goals. To help us along this journey, we need your help at home. Please sit with your child and discuss ideas for each section of the chart. Write your childs thoughts as best you can in the space provided. He/she will use this chart to work from in the classroom to chart these goals. Please return the Brainstorming Chart by Monday January 11th. Thank you so much and Happy New Year! Sincerely, The First Grade Team Mrs. DuBay ( Miss Liwienski) Mrs. Held Mrs. Locke
