The paper The Challenges of Globalization and the role of Human resources by

Muhammad Aminu Bawa and Dr Juhary Ali discusses the interaction between globalization and
business performance especially with respect to developing countries such as Malaysia and
Nigeria .It also argues that changing global environment does not bring complementary changes
in HR practices leading to a situation where the firms failure is attributed to mismanagement of
people rather than technical systems. Also it presents a framework for Strategic Human Resource
Management as a response to prepare organizations to face the various challenges due to
globalization. The theoretical framework developed has used six theoretical influences prominent
being the resource based view of the firm and the behavioral view. In order to maintain a
competitive edge

in a period of globalization HR personnel must possess and develop

competencies for implementing strategic HRM policies. Strategic HRM objectives and are long
term in nature.
The essay Employee Moral Rights:Recognising their implicit Financial Investments in the
firm by Edilberto F Montemayor argues that dedicated employees must be treated as financial
investors and accordingly must be given a share in the firms profits ,protection from senior
managers abusive self dealing and also must be provided timely accurate information, protection
from Senior Manager . It also argues that employees have a share in the firms financial success
and also that they have to seek protection of their financial investment in the firm. Also the
essay proposes to include employee moral rights .Also it argues that the dedicated employees
make very significant financial investments in the firm they work for and these financial
investments are linked to the need for corporate governance. Also the essay tries to make a clear
comparison between moral rights and legal rights and focuses specifically on workplace human
rights.
