Introduction
This period is called Jacobean (also known as

Stuart) after Jacobus, the Latin translation of


James;
Elizabethan and Jacobean drama are often
combined together and referred to as
Renaissance Drama.

reigned from 1603 to
1625;
appointed forty-seven
learned men to produce
the Authorized Version of
the Bible.
