Mark Hess, IMPD, H6756 Deputy Prosecuting Aitomney Dr. John Cavanaugh, MCCO cwl Ccw2 CW3 of 2 12/28/2015 2:21 PM AFFIDAVIT FOR PROBABLE CAUSE STATE OF INDIANA, COUNTY OF MARION, 8S: Detective Jose A. Torres swears (aftrms) that: On Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at approximately 8:31PM, officers responded to 4517 Candletree Circle in the La Joya Apartments, reference a person bleeding and down in the parking lot ‘When officers arrived they located the victim, lator identified as Rolando Gonzalez-Hernandez, lying on the ground unresponsive next to a dark colored Chevy Trailblazer. The driver’s side door was still open. ‘When medics arrived they pronounced him on the scene at 8:40PM. ‘When I arrived I spoke to Bertha Hemandez, who is Gonzalez’s girlfriend, Hemandez told me she saw Gonzalez sitting in his vehicle, a gray 2006 Chevy Trailblazer with IN License plate WES690 VIN IGNDT13S862230000, smoking a cigarette by himself. Hernandez told Gonzalez to come inside so he could eat and he told her he would be inside in a few minutes, but he was going to finish his cigarette Hernandez, went inside and after about 15 minutes she heard officers knocking on ber neighbor's door. Hernandez. went outside and saw officers around Gonzalez’s vehicle. Crime Lab responded to the scene and processed the scene. While they were processing the scene Deputy Coroner Lloyd Sprow! arrived and located a Mexican Consulate identification card with the name of Rolando Miguel Gonzalez-Hernandez. It appeared that Gonzalez. suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Gonzalez. was transported to the morgue pending an autopsy. The gray 2006 Chevy Trailblazer ‘was towed to ACC at 2600 S, Harding On Thursday, November 5, 2015, [attended the autopsy of Gonzalez. under MC#15-1355. Dr. John Cavanaugh conducted the autopsy. Gonzalez suffered a gunshot wound to the head and a bullet was recovered. The cause of death was determined to be the gunshot wound to the head where the bullet struck the brain, The manner of death was ruled a homicide. On Monday, December 7, 2015, [received information about a possible suspect in the shooting of Rolando Gonzalez-Hernandez. I followed up with this information and on December 16, 2015 I took a statement from Cooperating Witness #1 (CW #1), 8 person who is known to law enforcement and who hhas no apparent motive to lie. CW #1 was questioned and provided the following information. CW#1 stated in early November of this year, he/she was with a black male known to hither as Larry Taylor (AKA Lil Larry), a white female she knew as Haley (who is Taylor’s girlfriend), and another person, at the Abington Apartments located at 4656 Edwardian Circle. I showed CW#l a photo of Larry Taylor, gallery #753352, and he/she confirmed that is the person he/she knows as Lil Larry. While they were at I swear (affirm), under penalty of perjury as specified by IC 35-44-2-1, thalfhe foregoing representations are true DATED: December 28, 2015 DEPUTY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY JUDGE NINETEENTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT, Affidavit for Probable Cause From: Detective Jose A. Tomes Abington Apartments Taylor told CW and the other people he was going to “hit a lick” which is a street form referring to committing a robbery and stated the “lick” would be at the La Joya Apartments. CWI also told me when he/she saw Taylor again the next day he/she heard Taylor talking about robbing a Mexican, going through his wallet but getting only $10 from the Mexican, and shooting the Mexican at La Joya Apartments ‘On Wednesday December 16, 2015, I took a statement from Cooperating Witness #2 (CW #2),a person who is known to law enforcement and who has no apparent motive to lie. CW #2 was questioned and provided the following information. CW#2 stated early November ofthis year he/she was at the Abington Apartments with a black male known to hinvher as Larry Taylor AKA Lil Larry, a white female she knew as Haley who is Taylor’s girlfriend, and another person, at the Abington Apartments located at ‘dwardian Circle. T showed CW#2 a photo of Larry Taylor, gallery #753352, and he/she confirmed that 3s the person he/she knows as Lil Larry. While at the Abington Apartments Taylor told CW22 he ‘was going La Joya Apartments to “hita lick”, which isa street term for committing a robbery, and Taylor left. The next time CW#2 saw Taylor, Taylor showed a news clip on his phone to CW#2 about a person being shot at La Joya Apartments. On Thursday, December 17, 2015, I took a statement from Cooperating Witness #3 (CW #3), a pporson who is known to law enforcement and who has no apparent motive to lie. CW #3 was questioned and provided the following information. CW#3 stated that in early November of this year, he/she was talking to a black male he/she knows as Larry Taylor. I showed CW#3 photo lineup #130107 and he/she identified the person in position #4 as the person he/she knows as Larry Taylor. ‘The person in position #4 is Larry Taylor, gallery #753352. While speaking to Taylor, Taylot told CW#3 he shot a Mexican at La Joya Apartments. Daring this investigation I spoke to Sgt. Mark Hess, who is with IMPD and a US Marshal's Liaison, and Sgt. Hess reviewed the cell phone information of Larry Taylor, cell number 317-864-7125, including cell tower sites. After checking the cell tower information on November 4, 2015, it showed Larry Teylor made several calls and received several calls while in the area of 4517 Candletree Circle between the hours of 4:10 PM to 8:56 PM, and the officers were dispatched at 8:31 PM for the shooting of Rolando Gonzalez-Hernandez, Detective Patrick McCloskey checked the Inter-Act RMS Mapping system between the dates of November 3, 2015 and November 6, 2015 in the area of 4517 Candletree Circle (half mile radius) for any incidents in which a person was reported as having been shot and the only reported incident was the homicide of Rolando Gonzalez-Hernandez.
