Greystanes

Round 1 Bathurst St, Greystanes

Greystanes

Just a great photo!

Hangover sees the Kolts fire!

The Kolts got their title
defence off to a cracking
start with an outstanding
second half display in the
grandfinal replay.
The warm up was
intense...as everybody played
in the mud!
The match itself was as
slow as the field....the Blacks
knocking the ball around and
generously including the
Greystanes team in their
passing movements!
The early attacks saw
chances hit the side netting

and shots sprayed

wide....very unlike the left
midfielder.
The movement out of the
back and particularly through
Bunny and his replacement
was promising down the right
and was creating chances.
Halftime saw an
agreement to play 2 touch
football....and the change in
the pace of the game was
phenomonal! Straight off the
re-start the Greystanes team
was feeling left out as the
passes pinged around,
movement lifted and the

workrate that was required

from Greystanes was beyond
them.
Dame and Fewelly
controlled the back and (for
want of a different word)
injected themselves into
attacks!
There were many classy
touches in the centre with all
who slotted in and out
seamlessly continuing the
possession for the Blacks.
Rich was sharp on the left,
putting together some good
passing movements with those
around him. Early in the....

second half, the quicker passing

saw him released on the left. A
great ball with the outside of his
boot kickstarted the
goalscoring, as ho found Donny
brilliantly on the penalty spot.
Donny finishing with a touch of
class, lifting a dink kickstart style
over the advancing keeper quality!
The second followed soon after
as the one armed Jaime was
brought down on the left edge of
the area. From the ensuing free
kick Minols curled a classy free
kick up over the wall, got the dip
required and put it inside the left
hand post - noice!
The movement around and
within the area from all was sharp
and as the passes kept pinging,
more would come. The one twos
and third man runs were opening
up Greystanes (and proved that
Doz wasnt wasting his breathe at
halftime).
This was evident with the third
goal as a ball won hard by Jaime
was quickly played to Alecs in the
middle of the park who didnt
hesitate in finding Vic, who
threaded to Trev on the edge of
the area who touch off to the
overlapping run of Donny into the
area...Donny drawing the keeper
and defender to play a square
ball back to Trev on the six yard

box to finish - this was the style

everybody was playing and was
getting the rewards.
The fourth was deserved
reward for the hard working Dan,
who continued to test the quality
of the Greys keeper throughout
the match. A throw in to Vics feet
saw him dummy/touch on/classy
trip? to Dan who ran at
goal....beating the advancing
keeper with a drive through his
legs - power and precision!
The final goal came from a
sublime ball from Doriano in his
own half. Having received early
ball, he was able to turn and play
a perfectly executed chip to put
Dan away, beating the offside
trap. Dan again charged in on
goal, drawing the keeper, but this
time laying off to the speedy Vic
(???) who made great ground to
finish a great square ball.
5-0 and good to be away for
the season. The rotation of players
was outstanding from
Vlad...keeping the squad fit and
healthy whilst playing some quality
football will serve us well as the
season progresses.
The man of the match reminded
me of the new kid in class....
always good on the first day and
everybody was really nice to him!
