ISE 1 (B1) Exam Preparation course (Teachers

Version)
(12hr course will consist of 4 x 3hr classes on Friday mornings (afternoons
from 2016))

ISE 1 - Course Overview


Day 1
1. Introduction (30 mins)
a. Exam dates & timings, special offer conditions, IBHUELVA
internal speaking assessment - Alejandro
b. Objectives of the preparation course
c. Exam Structure and marking guide
d. Course schedule/structure (5 mins)

1. Introduction
a. Exam dates are Reading and Writing 11/11/2015 (10am) and the
Speaking and Listening 06/11/2015.
Alejandro to speak about the schedule, note any preferences, any
problems and also ask if anyone is left handed.
The B2 group will be examined in the afternoon and the B1 in the
morning to prevent any clashes with the preparation course.

Explanation about a personal speaking and listening assessment


should be given (10 mins, 5 mins assessment and 5 mins feedback.
The purpose of this is to:
1. Establish their approximate current level and recommend remedial
action, specific areas for improvement will be documented.
2. If the student is deemed to have a B1 level of speaking then the
special offer of a free resit will be approved. (conditions include
sharing the offer on facebook!)
3. If serious remedial action is required private or group classes
maybe offered for those interested.

Answer any administrational questions regarding certificates and


results.
b. Objectives of the course are to give you a general understanding of
what is expected of candidates in order to pass the ISE 1 exam.
During the course candidates will:
1. Learn what the different parts of the ISE 1 exam involve.
2. How to approach and successfully complete the various parts of
the exam.
This will be done buy:
1. Using Trinity recommended materials and exercises to ensure
candidates carryout the various parts of the exam correctly.
2. Candidates will learn exactly what the examiners are looking for to
award marks.
3. Particular areas of importance will be highlighted and advice
given.
4. Exam style exercises will be given for classwork and homework.

c. The course schedule has been designed to prepare you for the Trinity
ISE 1 (B1) exam. It should be noted that we will teach the exam. The
course will be taught in English in order to give candidates some final
immersion in English before the exam.
