Dear Editor,
Of late, there have been a lot of stray animals in Taman Sejuk Beku.
They roam their neighbourhood and cause a lot of inconvenience to the
residents here. For one, these stray cats and dogs dirty the neighbourhood.
They rummage through the rubbish bins and overturn them. As a result,
rubbish is strewn all over and there is a foul stench in the air. Besides that,
these animals defecate everywhere, sometimes even in our gardens and
porch.
They are also very noisy. The dogs bark and howl at night. Even the
cats join in at times, especially during the mating season. This is the time
you can hear the male cats testing out their vocal cords. It can be very
annoying, especially if you have babies and children at home. The constant
noise wakes them up at night.
The stray animals have become very bold too. The cats come into our
homes and steal our food. Some of our residents have even complained
that their pet fish have started depleting in numbers. Quite obviously, they
have been eaten by stray cats.
If that is not bad enough, these animals can be quite vicious. Dogs
chase people, especially small children and joggers in the park. We are
afraid that the dogs may one day attack someone.
I have complained numerous times to the town council but nothing
has been done. I hope you can highlight this matter in your newspaper so
that action will be taken.
