180 Degree Rule
Its a basic rule that means that two characters should always
have the same left and right relationship to each other. When
a camera crosses the axis connecting to two subjects, it is
called crossing the line. The 180 degree rule is then
broken.
Breaking the rule has the disruptive effect of confusing the
viewer, making them stop and think. This that they may break
away from the film to try and readjust. It also breaks the
continuity and the disconcerting effect it can have on the
viewer which would upset the illusion of reality as the
perspective is disrupted. Therefore it is important not to
break the rule
