THE EARTH

Hi there! Good morning!

Reporter: Alan Nageena Mamutuk

PROBLEM:
How

big is the Earth?

MATERIALS:

a world map

a Philippine
map

PROCEDURE:
1. Spread the world map on the
table. Locate the Philippines and
the continent where it belongs.
Heres a world
map. The country
pointed by the red
arrow
is
the
Philippines.
Philippines is part of
the continent ASIA.

PROCEDURE:
2. Spread out the
Philippine map.
Locate your province.
Heres a Philippine map.
The one shaded in orange
below is our province of
Lanao del Norte. Within
Lanao del Norte is our
very own city of Iligan.

PROCEDURE:
3. Compare the size of your
province to the whole
Philippines.
In terms of size, the
province of Lanao del
Norte is very small in
size compared to the
whole of the Philippines.

PROCEDURE:
4. Compare the size of the
Philippines to the whole world.
Very clearly, the
Philippines is
very
small
in
size
if
compared
to
the
whole world. In terms
of size, the Philippines
is just a tiny part of
the whole world.

PROCEDURE:
5. Go to the highest part of the school
building. Look as far as you can around
your school.
6. Get out of the classroom. Look around
you. Can you walk around the barangay?
Due to lack of time and safety and security
reasons, I did not do procedures 5 and 6. But
I believe one can walk around the barangay.

OBSERVATION:
1. How many rooms are there in
your school?
Answer: For the
SSES building only,
there are SIX
rooms. There are
many more rooms,
estimate of 40-70
rooms, for the
entire Tambo
Central School.

OBSERVATION:
2. In what barangay is your school
located?
\

Answer: Our school, Tambo

Central School, is located in
Tambo, Barangay Hinaplanon,
Iligan City.

OBSERVATION:
3. In what province is your
barangay located?
\

Answer: Barangay Hinaplanon,

Iligan City is located in the
province of Lanao del Norte.

OBSERVATION:
4. How big is your province as
compared to the whole
Philippines?
\

Answer: Compared to the whole

Philippines, the province of
Lanao del Norte is relatively not
big. It is very small.

CONCLUSION:
Arrange these places from the smallest
to the largest by putting numbers 1, 2,
3, 4, 5, 6, 7 before each place. Use
number 1 for the smallest and number
7 for the largest. Heres my answer:
2 school 4 province
6 continent 3 barangay
1 classroom 7 Earth
5 Philippines
