For an artist to take on a stage name rooted from a Greek storyteller, you

wouldnt necessarily expect an agnostic alternative Hip-Hop artist named Aesop Rock
who chains together sentences saying I wanna be the halo that jumps off the brain f the
genius who decided some pictures deserve frames, but rather a folk artist. Aesops
songs come off as candid, to spontaneously morbid/provocative, or Narrative with a notso-hidden message. Blood turns wine when it leak for police, Like that's not a riot it's a
feast, let's eat / How to make a homemade mummy: Get a corpse, get gauze, get comfy
/ Shampoo and disinfect dead fluffy. Aesop Rocks indie rap style, with high pace and
bountiful vocabulary are projected through his use of Internal rhymes, heavy
alliterations, and allusions that appear in a plethora of his songs. Underground and indie
artists like Aesop aren't really ever recognized amongst mainstream music, part of this
is because they don't particularly wish to, but rather just share their music for the art of
it over, making top 100 billboards. primarily putting out music in the late 90s and 2000s
up to around 2012.
Its clear to the naked ear that Aesop Rock uses alliterations heavy alliterations in
his songs, from lines as, Don't let stupid delusions lesson super-duty labor students,
Dragnet lifer solutions - The Greatest Pac-Man Victory in History. Colorfully vulgar

poacher, out of mulch Like I'm a pull the pulse out a soldier and bolt- None SHall
PAss. Normally artists use alliterations to merely have their songs flow. Aesop Rock
thrives using his rap style in such a way. Yet, his aliterations have a tendency to be
provocative to make the listener rewind a few seconds, for instance to have lines such
as Nothing Nada Nil-(ism!) - Bring Back Pluto. Primarily, putting the words even
closer together draws in the n sound to the listener to then have a faded ism as a
way to have the line stick and finish it off as an internal rhyme, I stuff a lotta pills to the
gut. Since Aesop Rock is rather candid in a majority of his songs hell use lines to
discredit people with sound devices. Re-coin mayhem with bonuses, benefits, and
break room - FlashFlood, its his way to to describe how journalist profit from war
(mayhem), and live lavish-like compared to the areas they cover.

there isn't a single song nor feature of Aesop's that doesn't have at least 10
internal rhymes in it. Let's be friends from opposite ends - Coffee or, let's evoke a vow
of Zipped lips clipped to my peaking Brow, I'm sleeping now- AppleSeed. His internal
rhymes are so common they almost negate their ability to resonate with the listener. Not
to say theyre over used. as previously stated before they're signature and frequent, He
seems to chain his internal rhymes as links to end rhymes through his songs, They

sold Pompeii impression, waste infections, And twelve steps to lesson he uses
the infections as a way to jump between the ending sound over a normal end rhyme of
two lines.
Aesop's allusions go unnoticed, mainly because there are usually 2 - 4 that are located
in his raps, these references are almost always just seen as part of a song, not really as
an allusion unless the listener recognizes it using their past experience More in a cave
with a torch on the wall than a window arrangement for the porcelain dolls- Coffee that
sentence of course a reference to Platos Allegory of the cave. although a lot of his
listeners - with all the different backgrounds they come from - never catch half of these
lines. for instance Bloom Countys riot for homeless riot for home ownership Citronella. Bloom County was a groundbreaking comic famous for tackling social and
political themes, like a step up from political cartoons. and of course there'll be allusions
that everyone can recognize,... the badge dreams sparkle inside my brick wall windows
another thick installment of one night in gotham without the wretched, Houston we have
a problem, attached to a festive batch of city goblins - Daylight. For this quote from
Daylight, Aesop uses his window as a metaphor saying that his city is like that off
Gotham - Batmans iconic city. He then follows up the houston we have a problem
referencing renowned line from John Swigert on the apollo 13 moonflight, and alludes
back to the superhero theme with the line of batch of city goblins, however instead of
this meaning gotham, Aesop is alluding the green goblin.a villain in Spider Man who
hails from NeW York just as Aesop Rock does. of course all these lines are just flowed
with the song, and not paused and rewound as a way to resonate beyond a oh hey, i
know whats that from

Personally Aesops music is a beautiful background noise to my actions indoors.

never to say that he is just to be heard and not listened to, but it goes both ways. Aesop
Being in the music industry since the very end of the 90s to present as an indie artist,
never has tried to compete with others with his music, rather collaborate other
independent rappers on his plane like MF DOOM or Atmosphere solely for the love of
Music with his level vocabulary would be amongst the highest throughout all hip hop
artist, present, past, and potentially future. He goes about every literary device - from
assonance to consonance, etc - so there's only so much i can cover. and even though
he receives the short end of the stick when it comes to promotion unlike mainstream
rappers, the person to stumble across his songs will find a new favourite artist.
