Week in Review: January 11 15

Scholastic Book Order

Our latest poem is The Chubby Little Snowman The kids drew their own snowman at the bottom of the
page.
We covered the letters H and O this week in Sound Connections. At the Teacher Station for Learning
Stations, we practiced word families which are a group of words that end in the same sound. The word
families we tried were at and ot (e.g. pat, hat, pot, hot, etc). Try playing around at home with paper and
crayons and make it into a game where they have to sound out the word then find rhyming words around
the house.
Next week our school will begin working on a mural with Mary Kwasney. Students from our class will be
helping every Monday and Friday morning. Each child will get a turn every other week to help out. The
project is expected to be done and ready for display by Spring Break.
Also starting next week we will begin our Home Reading program. Kindergartens will bring home a new
home reading book every Tuesday and exchange the book the following Tuesday. I will send home a letter
guiding you on how to help your child with these early reading books. I have decided on Tuesdays so that
you only have one day a week to remember to return books to the school! If you have any questions
