The stylized spiral which ornaments the Ganesh ear would be a Cham sign,
but not a Khmer one. The weaved girdle, the side tissue flaps and the
transversal pleats of the cloth can also be seen on other sculptures from the
Cham period. The Ganesh from the Tourane museum would be quite similar
in style. But the Ganesh of this Rochefort museum shows the greatest
difference between the Cambodian style and the Cham style. Muse de
Rochefort, France

Big (around 1m. high) bulky stone Ganesh. The unrolled trunk rests on the
body forepart. The bust wears a sacred serpent thread (yajnopavita); the
lower part of the body below the waist and the girdle, wears a cloth. Ankles
wear bangles and foot palms are pressed each other. 8 th or 9 th century,
Java (Indonesia). National Museum of Calcutta

Big (env 1 m) stone Ganesh statue, similar to the former. However, here the
lower part of the trunk is left-turned to touch the pot of sweets, carried by
the god lower left hand. This four-armed Ganesh impressive image
apparently has two unbroken tusks, but the right lower hand seems to hold a
broken tusk. The upper right hand shows the ml. The upper left hand hold
the elephant goad. These very usual emblems, despite the great antiquity of
the statue. The breast is surrounded by the sacred thread. The foot palms
are pressed each other. 8 th or 9 th century, Java (Indonesia). National
