In the view of investigation concerning opportunities of entering a new market, more particularly China,
Appalachian PLC has decided to carry out a survey.
Generally, carrying out a survey is to collect information relating to a particular subject in order to make a
statistical analysis of the results obtained. Survey results depend largely on the type of questions asked,
i.e. open ended or closed ended, the method used to collect the data, whether through face to face
interview, telephone or mail, and the sample chosen, whether it is representative of the population or not.
The objective of Appalachian PLC is to collect information in relation with consumer spending patterns
with respect to furniture, in order to decide whether China is a prospective market. Therefore, an analysis
of the customer group, the chargeable price and income levels in these countries is required.
