Career Opportunities
Learning skills and techniques for fashion could lead to an opportunity
to set up own business or if progressing further in education it may be
possible to eventually find employment in the fashion industry.
Progression Routes
BTEC Level 3 Fashion and Textiles if supported by GCSEs, BTEC
Higher National Certificate Fashion and Textiles if supported by A
Level or Level 3 Qualifications.

Course Overview
The course will enable students to further develop their practical skills
in pattern drafting and garment construction through development of
bodice, sleeve and dress blocks, dart manipulation and sleeve
types. Personal design ideas can then be developed into a finished
product. All work will be shown in the college annual catwalk show.
Entry Requirements
Level 1 Award In Pattern Cutting or some previous experience in
pattern cutting and garment construction.
Extended Course Overview
Course Units
Pattern Drafting - Learn how to draft basic blocks for bodice, dress
and sleeve, mens shirt or jacket.
Dart manipulation and sleeve adaptation.
Manipulation of blocks into own design ideas.
Personal design ideas will be developed into a finished garment.
Assessment Methods
Course work, producing final garment.
