    vengefulnessofGodtowardtheJews,andwhenreadingitIgetmoreoftheimpressionthatthe
    Godhespeaksofisadevilofsomesort.Withallthetalkofdamnationandhellfire,andhow
    easyitwastogotoHellforeternity,itsoundsnothinglikethemercifulandforgivingGodthatis
    depictedbyChristianstoday.

    JonathanEdwardsseemstoharborhatredtowardtheJews,callingthemwickedand
    speakingoftheirdestruction.Consideringthetime,thismayhavebeeneitheraploytogetothers
    tolistentohissermonoranactualhatredoftheJews.HespeaksoftheJewishtexts,andhow
    angrytheirwickedGodis,andhefeelsthatChristiansare,ofcourse,correctineveryway.A
    manthatdoesnotbelieveissentencedtoaneternityinHell.Goddoesnotcareifoneman
    doesntmakeitintoHeaven.TheywillfallintothebowelsofHellwhenGodsappointedtime
    comes.AllofthesethingsarestrictlyJewishideas,andnotChristianones.

    HelikelymeanstosaythatthewickedandwrongfulJewshavenochancemakingitanywhere
    butHellwhenGodsappointedtimecomes.TheJewshavewrongfullydepictedGod,andso
    theyshallbecastdownfortheirwickednessandblasphemy.Allofthesehorridthingshappento
    theJews,andonlytheJews,andEdwardslikelyconvincedhisaudienceofthis.Asofnowwe
    havealittlethingcalledpoliticalcorrectness,soIdoubthewouldappealtoamodernaudience,
    butatthetimehisvoicewasobviouslyheardbecausethisisoneofthemostwellknown
    sermonsofalltime.
