Dr. Kenneth L. Wilson is writing a letter of recommendation for JeCinda Reid. He first met JeCinda through a youth mentoring program where she showed interest in surgery. JeCinda then asked to continue the mentorship for the summer by observing surgeries and rounding in the hospital. JeCinda is a top student who plays basketball and softball, and despite challenges in her city, she has identified her goal of attending medical school. Dr. Wilson believes JeCinda has the academic ability to graduate from medical school and recommends her without reservation.

Dear Sir/Madame: It is with absolute pleasure that I am writing this letter of support for an incredibley talented young lady, JeCinda Reid. I first met JeCinda as a high school student participating in a summer youth mentoring program at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan. There were approximately 500 students with whom I interacted with while teaching them about the utilization of the Davinci robot. At the conclusion of the introduction to surgery, I extended an invitation to each student to contact me if there was a lingering interest in surgery or medicine. JeCinda is the only student to contact me and to ask permission to extend the mentorship for the remainder of the summer.
College of Human Medicine Flint Campus
JeCinda is a senior at Flint Southwestern Academy in Flint,
Michigan. The city of Flint is plagued with many negative circumstances where it often difficult to forsee a viable future beyond high school, and peering into the world of higher education is often obscured by a lack of mentorship and a clear vision for the future. JeCinda has identified that she wants to attend medical school after successful completion of her undergraduate career, and took the initial step necessary to make her dream come to fruition. Every Thursday, she would arrive at 7am and depart at 6pm after a grueling day of standing in the operating room and rounding in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
She posses the academic acumen to eventually graduate
medical school. Currently, she is a top student at Flint Southwestern Academy. She is a student-athlete and is a member of the womens basketball and softball teams. She is well-rounded, amicable and respectful. As stated previously, I consider it a pleasure to be affliated with this standout of a student. It is without reservation and enthusiasm that I am writing this letter of support for JeCinda Reid.
Sincerely,
Kenneth L. Wilson, MD, FACS
