Description
The B.Sc. in Health Science program is designed to prepare students for public and private
sector careers in health research, health practice, health product production and
distribution, and health management. It also prepares students for entry into schools of
health or graduate studies.
The objectives of the degree are as follows:
1.To provide students with a strong foundation in the basic sciences together with a broad
knowledge of the various health professions involved in Canadian health care delivery.

2.To equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for employment in health
research, production and distribution of health products, and other health-related fields.
3.To provide students with the educational prerequisites necessary for entry into a) post
graduate degrees in the sciences, and b) qualified health professional programs (e.g.
medicine, physiotherapy, nuclear medicine, cardiology, pharmacy).
4.To provide students with the opportunity to integrate an understanding of
complementary medicine (e.g., naturopathy, traditional Chinese medicine) with the basic
sciences.
The B.Sc. in Health Science is designed around a core of required basic science and health
science courses, complemented by health science and open electives that provide
graduates with a solid science foundation but also with critical health research,
communication, and management skills for future success.

Established by the government of British Columbia in 1981, Kwantlen, now Kwantlen
Polytechnic University, has four campuses located in the Metro Vancouver region of British
Columbia. Kwantlen offers bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates
and citations in more than 200 programs. More than 17,500 students annually attend
Kwantlen campuses in Surrey, Richmond, Langley and Cloverdale.
Kwantlen Polytechnic University develops degree programs and other applied credentials

Residence Information
Kwantlen Polytechnic University does not currently offer any on-campus housing. However,
all four campuses are located in residential areas of the Metro Vancouver region, with a
wide variety of off-campus housing options available for students to choose from. Many of
these accommodations are within walking and cycling distance, and all four campuses are
easily accessible by public transit or private vehicle.

Kwantlen works with First Choice International Placement to arrange homestay

accommodations with local host families for international students. Students are placed
with pre-screened host families near the campus of their choice, and have private
bedrooms and access to the facilities provided by the host family
