1. The document discusses various techniques for acting, including selective concentration to draw attention to objects that further characterize a scene. An example is staring at a gun to symbolize giving one's life away.
2. It also discusses how a character's reaction, either positive or negative, will influence the actor's response through body language and attitude. An example is responding negatively to a kid who said he hurt his leg.
3. One must listen to others to know when to naturally join a conversation, rather than just waiting for cues. When making excuses, a partner immediately disagreed and spoke up.

1. Selective concentration is to draw attention to certain objects,
thoughts, or activities in order to further a characterization. An example of this from my last scene in Cops was when I stared at my gun before giving it to my partner to show that my gun was a symbol of giving my life away. 2. The way another character reacts to an actor either positively or negatively will make the actor change through nerve endings, muscles, and come back with the same attitude. When the kid with the crutches told me he had hurt his leg, I responded with a negative and mocking attitude. He then returned with the same negative attitude towards me. 3. It isnt enough for an actor to wait for a cue to talk, because it isnt realistic. An actor must listen to others so he knows where it would make sense to but-in to a conversation. In my scene, when I began to start making excuses, my partner immediately disagreed and spoke. 4. Sometimes you can tell the personality of the character by what props they use or their environment. An example of an environment would be in a bad/poor neighborhood. This would affect the way the character speaks and his costume. The character would use more slang words and have baggy clothes. 5. A.) The character must never chatter aimlessly because an actor should always have a purpose. B.) He must try to keep the story going. C.) An actor must not be contrived because improv should be spontaneous and unscripted. 6. 1.) In order to project an emotion, the actor must experience some kind of internal physical response. 2.) At the same time, the actor must project some kind of external response. 7. Being truthful doesnt always mean being realistic. A realistic way to project sadness would be crying. But a truthful way 8. If you are in pain, lets say you fell down, scraped your hands and broke your leg. Breathing heavily and quickly would help intensify emotion. 9. That statement is saying that just doing something without knowing why you are doing the action. If you do this, the action will become stale and look like you are just doing what a script tells you. An example would be an actor throwing objects around due to frustration. If you do not know why he is doing the action, you wouldnt be able to portray the character well.
