LESSON OBJECTIVE: (What do I want my students to know and be able to do?) (Cite State Standard)
CS.VIS.9-12.3.0 - Students analyze the role and development of the visual arts in past and present
cultures throughout the world, noting human diversity as it relates to the visual arts and artists.

ASWBAT extend their knowledge of Oaxacan wood carving sculptures to identify the creator and history
of Alebrijes de Oaxaca in order to appraise their projects artistic direction
INTRODUCTION: (What will I say to my students about what weve done before; what we know and want
to know?)
Introduce students to the K-L-W chart and the steps needed to complete the worksheet.
Outline the agenda: complete the Know section of the K-W-L chart, watch a Power Point presentation of
Alebrijes de Oaxaca, videos on artists methods, follow up with questions/comments, and finalize the
K-L-W chart with learned and want to learn information.
