But analyzing the mission of the university, it did not mention any concern about
multicultural education. I guess, what was meant by the statement was that FEU envisioned
itself as an advocacy and linkages to help the university attain its vision as private
university of Asia. Therefore, FEU endeavored advancing its advocacies; establish linkages
with organizations and other universities in Asia with the same goals by sharing its
resources, skills and expertise in order to contribute to the advancement of the global
society. Given this justification with the universitys vision, I am still uncomfortable with
the statement. For me it was something vague. There was still a gap between the lines of
the statement that needs to be cleared. Several questions are still hanging around inside my
brain. If the endeavor of the institution is for globalization, why private university of
Asia only? If this was a vision 20 years ago, how can the university measure that it is
hitting its target?
Of all the statement in FEUs vision and mission, I like very much the three major
core values that the university wanted to put an edge on with our graduates. The university
adheres to these three core values which shape our graduates to be competitive and stand
through the test of time in the work field. The university would like them to have moral
courage and strength of character that allows them to persevere and achieve more than
what is expected of them. Excellence means that our students can perform completely to
their fullest potential in spite of external and internal pressures in academics and beyond.
Finally, FEU aims as an educational institution, for the full development of morality and
integrity among all students and other members of the FEU community as well. With the
training of these core values among students, the university hopes to produce citizens and
leaders of the world.
