Lesson Subject: La Ropa

Rationale/Purpose: The lesson will allow students to practice their Spanish


clothing vocabulary in a competitive yet controlled manner.
Lesson Outcome: Once completed the student will feel more comfortable with
their Spanish vocabulary and will have gained some confidence in speaking out loud in
the TL.
Standard/Benchmark: Interpersonal: Speaking/Listening or Signed
1.1.N.SL.h
Unit Outcome: Exchange information in the target language on
familiar topics such as personal interests, memorable experiences, school
activities, and family life (MDE)
Age: 7th grade
Materials Needed: A blank suitcase handout, a list of places to travel to, a box,
two balls, a list of clothing articles and a secondary activity in case there is time left.
Set/ Motivation: I will begin the lesson by talking to students about the clothing
vocab they have already received and review any articles that require more attention (i.e.
gorra, cachucha, bufanda, etc..)
Instruction:
New Material: There will be presentation of some new articles of clothing
not used before, but for the most part the students will have most of the vocab.
Activity Explained:
A trip to.
1. Begin with handing each student a blank suitcase and
telling them to pack for their trip to.
2. Give students the instruction that they must pack at
least 5 items and must draw and label each item they
plan on taking.
3. Go over a few of the items they would have packed.
Game
1. Split the class into two teams
2. Explain the rules of the game:
a. One person from each team competes at a time
b. The first person to answer correctly gets 1 pt.
c. If they make the basket, they get an additional 4
pts, for a total of 5pts per round.
d. The first team to 30pts wins.

Independent Practice: The students will be working mostly independently while
packing their suitcases.
Since this is more of an informal activity/lesson there isnt a closure activity, nor
is there actual assessment.
