INVOLVING TECHNIQUES

STROKE PREVALENCE
ETIOLOGY

AND

ITS

Stroke is defined as a focal neurological deficit that persist

for more than 24hrs owing to interruption of the blood supply
to the brain.
Majority of strokes are ischemic (80%) thats mostly suffered
by middle aged to elderly adults, the rest 20% is haemoragic
stroke.
Stroke remains as a significant concern of one of the
cerebrovascular disease thats caused at least 10.6 % of all
deaths in develop nations, with a death rate of 45.6 per
100.000 of population.

STROKE PREVENTION
ENHANCEMENT FACTORS
Within over the past 20 years, there are great factors
improved to reduce deaths and increase the independence of
post-stroke patient :
1. The emergence of dedicate stroke units.
2. The good understanding and introduction of intravenous
thrombolysis.
3. The better understanding among society that stroke
represents a potentially treatable medical emergency.

TREATMENT OF
STROKE
1. Intravenous thrombolysis is the most effective treatment
for acute ischaemic stroke.
2. Early aspirin as a antiplatelet treatment is also
considered as the benefit treatment for acute ischaemic
stroke.
3. Meanwhile, by taking supportive treatment for
haemorrhagic stroke is one of the optional treatment
unless theres a specific underlying cause (e.g :
aneurysm)
