Reasons behind choosing the area: Transformer is Option less equipment in the Electrical System. Its
duty is as simple as transforming the Power at one level of Voltage to the other level. But, in doing so,
Efficiency of the transformer became the importance of Paramount. Speaking from Efficiency point of
view, India facing is facing 24% Powerloss in Transmission and Distribution level. According to the
Review done by 11th Five year plan, Rupees 40,000/- Crore per annum are spent on these power loss
only. In other words, we paid and are paying for Nothing. In this circumstances, It is of Paramount
Importance to review the working of Transformer and proposing any changes from Design, operation
etc point of view and their by increasing the system efficiency.
