    Transoral robotic surgery is an effective treatment for oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma with good long-term functional and oncologic results. A randomized trial was conducted comparing transoral robotic surgery to other treatment types for oropharyngeal cancer. The study found that transoral robotic surgery led to less postoperative morbidity compared to other approaches and similar oncologic outcomes in terms of survival and disease control. Patient samples were also used to detect which oropharyngeal cancer cases were HPV-positive versus HPV-negative.
