There was no bobbing around in the pool at the Jenks Invitational on Friday and
Saturday.
There wasnt any leisurely swimming, either.
Jenks High Schools boys and girls swim teams took first place in the 14-team
tournament, winning nearly half of the events.

Owassos girls finished fifth overall, five points behind Booker T. Washington, and the
boys finished sixth, with multiple swimmers collecting new personal bests.
Jordan Riley reigned in the lone win of the event for Owasso.
He swam the 100-yard freestyle a 51.44 seconds, almost a full second ahead of Ft.
Gibsons Conor Schapp.
Owassos Sam Jones finished fourth in that race with a time of 52.22.
Rileys next highest finish in the meet was a second-place performance in the 200-yard
freestyle. He hit the wall in 1 minute and 56 seconds, four behind Alex Lawrences
winning pace.
Riley and Jones also contributed to relay swims. In the boys 400-yard relay, they teamed
up with Dawon Norton and Braden Frazier to finish in 3:41.25.
Madison Bates finished as high as third, recording a 2:29.82 in the girls 200-yard IM.
Jenks has put out another stellar team this season, however, and the Trojans let it be
known who was in the lead.
Owassos Julia Filip swam a swift 6:07.05 in the 500-yard freestyle to finish in second
place. The leader, Jenks August von Hartitzsch, finished the race in 5 minutes and 51
seconds.
The event falls upon a challenging time in the season. It is three weeks before regionals
and one day after a meet in Claremore.
That meet, held at Owassos practice site five days a week, started off well enough for
Owasso. Julia Filip, Madison Bates, McKinzie Horsley and Jordan Denny combined to
turn in a 2:10 finish on the 200-yard medley relay, good for first place.
The boys did the same, coming in at 1:54 for a first place finish just ahead of Claremore.
Leading that relay with a great split, Jordan Riley took the Rams from what looked like a
second place finish to an easy win.
He swam freestyle for the final 50 yards, his best stroke.
Thats the leg I always swim, Riley said. Relays are like that, though. Someone might
be really good at one stroke and another swimmer in the next lane is not, he might not be
swimming in his strength.

Riley worked out a 2-minute flat finish a little later in the 200-yard freestyle for his
second first place finish of the night, and Owasso was well on its way to a dominant
Practice session, as assistant coach Titus Knight described it.
This is an opportunity for them to work on the fundamentals, keep improving toward the
end of the season, Knight said.
Owasso also got a first-place finish from Horsley in the 200-yard freestyle with a 2:23
finish.
