Questions

How long is too long for the urban community to sit back and
wait for the playing field to even out?

How is gradualism a bad concept?

Reactions

I feel that continuously whining about unequal opportunities is

wasted time when one could have went out and created their
own opportunities.

Connections

I have lived my life by the supposed up-by-your-bootstraps

hyperbole my whole life. I didnt come from a household with
college-educated parents or a town/city where violence and
crime is low. To call this hokey hope is a slap in the face to me
because thats the only way Ive lived my life. I knew that
nothing in life was going to come easy, so I didnt have the time
to sit back and ask, why is the playing field uneven?

Restatements

I feel that this article is just another example of why minorities

tend to cling to this hope of waiting until they get their 40 acres
and a mule. I think its time that we realize that this isnt going
to happen and channel the work ethic of our ancestors until we
even playing field on our own and not through a handout.

Applications

I dont believe that I would use this article to my own practice

because it completely goes against what I believe.
