JMC-26001-008 20 November 2014 Assignment 11: Covering an Event The Kent State University womens lacrosse team hosted their annual Lax for the Cure event on October 19th. Since 2006, the Golden Flashes womens club lacrosse team has hosted the event in October to support womens breast cancer. Genevieve Mackenzie, Kent State University sophomore, was in charge of planning the event. It is a fun way to get the team involved, and raise awareness for breast cancer, said Mackenzie. Everyone involved had an awesome time, and we were able to raise two hundred dollars for a great cause. The team raised money for the Susan G. Komen Breast cancer foundation by paying money to play in the event, and also selling sweatshirts to students and family members. Zachary Nowak, Kent State University hockey player and womens lacrosse coach, was happy with the turn out of the event. Its amazing the work the girls put into the event, said Nowak. The girls had been putting the event together for about three months and it could not have gone any better.
