Storm Channel Update at Environment Committee

Who:

Councilmember David Alvarez, Chair, and members of the

Committee on the Environment

What:

Committee members will hear an update from Transportation

and Storm Water Department staff regarding storm channel
and storm drain maintenance efforts (Item #3) as well as staffs
response to the storms during the week of January 4, 2016.

When:

Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 2PM (item will be heard closer

to 2:30PM)

Where:

City Council Committee Meeting Room, City Administration

Building, 202 C Street, 12th floor

Why:

At the urging of Alvarez, the City Council unanimously

approved a declaration for a local State of Emergency in the
City of San Diego last November in order to expeditiously
prepare at-risk coastal areas, as well as storm channels that
have been identified as high flood risks in advance of winter
storms. With the El Nio season upon us, the City has
increased emergency work on the cleaning, repairing and
maintenance of channels, storm drains, pipes and pump
stations.
